It's no surprise that secure communication remains paramount for government agencies and organizations handling sensitive information. This is especially true in environments like Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities, or SCIFs, where even seemingly innocuous background noise can pose a security risk.

To address this challenge, companies are developing innovative solutions that prioritize both clarity and confidentiality.

One such solution comes from Tone Commander, a provider of secure telephony solutions. Recently acquired by Patton, Tone Commander has a history of designing and manufacturing highly secure, military-grade VoIP and TSG-6 endpoints for the DoD branches and civilian government agencies.

In more recent news, Tone Commander integrated push-to-talk, or PTT, functionality into its Assured Services SIP End Instrument. This phone caters specifically to the needs of secure communication, boasting certifications like DoD JITC Unified Capabilities and TSG-6 approval for National Security Systems.

The new PTT capability allows users to switch between traditional handset communication and PTT mode more easily for greater flexibility and efficiency in fast-paced environments. PTT technology streamlines communication by allowing users to transmit messages by holding down a designated button, similar to walkie-talkies. This eliminates the need to constantly hold the handset.

Tone Commander's AS-SIP phones hold the distinction of being both DoD JITC Unified Capabilities certified and TSG-6 approved for National Security Systems. These certifications guarantee that the phones meet the stringent security standards demanded by government agencies.

As for the TSG-6 standard, it plays a role in safeguarding sensitive information within government agencies. Tone Commander's phones comply with both Class A and Class B TSG-6 certifications to ensure better protection against information leakage. This is achieved through special positive-disconnect circuitry and advanced microphonic filtering technology, which effectively prevent audio vibrations from being transmitted through the device itself or its microphone cable. This eliminates the risk of information leaks, even in SCIFs.

Tone Commander also prioritizes interoperability with existing infrastructure. The standards-based AS-SIP phones seamlessly integrate with any JITC-approved platform. This eliminates the need for costly and disruptive system overhauls to allow agencies to effortlessly integrate the new PTT functionality into their existing communication architecture.

Tone Commander's PTT-enabled AS-SIP phones address the communication needs of government agencies, particularly the DOD, by offering a secure, reliable and feature-rich solution. The combination of PTT functionality, DOD certification, TSG-6 compliance and interoperability better equips government users with enhanced communication capabilities while maintaining a high level of information security.
