Video and audio conference systems have been a boost for collaboration with remote and hybrid work being the norm in the workforce today. They enable real-time, face-to-face communication and collaboration among individuals or groups located in different geographic locations, reducing the need for physical travel and enhancing efficiency. They also facilitate seamless sharing of visual content, documents, and presentations, fostering effective remote work and communication.

A challenge, however, was that the camera view was fixed and could not be adjusted to focus on specific areas of the room. This made it difficult for users to see and hear everyone in the room during video conferences. Users also had to manually adjust the camera view during video conferences, which was time-consuming and often resulted in poor video quality. This made it difficult for users to communicate effectively during video conferences.

Nureva, a provider of audio conferencing solutions, looks to change that with a feature that includes innovative camera zones for its HDL410 audio conferencing system that integrates sound location data with the INOGENI CAM230 multi-camera selector.

The Nureva HDL410 audio conferencing system is a high-quality audio system designed for large conference rooms. It features a microphone mist technology that uses 8,192 virtual microphones to pick up sound from anywhere in the room, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard clearly. The system also includes an integrated speaker bar that delivers high-quality audio output, making it easy to hear what everyone is saying.

The new functionality Nureva recently announced allows users to effortlessly designate up to three distinct zones, each linked to a specific camera angle, streamlining remote participants' ability to track conversations in real-time during meetings or classes.

Compatible with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other UC&C clients lacking native support for multiple camera feeds, the CAM230 works with various USB or HDMI cameras, including the Nureva CV30, while enabling straightforward zone configuration via the user-friendly click-and-drag interface within the Nureva Console, eliminating the need for extra software or specialized technical expertise common in conventional multi-camera setups.

The camera zones feature enhances remote collaboration by automatically switching between two or three cameras in larger spaces, ensuring a more engaging experience for remote participants by providing a clear view of the active speaker, simplifying integration with popular UC&C platforms and expanding their capabilities, all made possible by Nureva's patented Microphone Mist technology, which deploys virtual microphones to accurately pinpoint sound sources, enhance microphone coverage and deliver consistent, high-quality audio for remote participants alongside video feeds.

“We are offering IT teams a new and easy way to implement automatic camera switching in their larger working and learning spaces,” said Nancy Knowlton, Nureva’s CEO. “The advanced capabilities of Microphone Mist technology continue to open up new opportunities to easily enable inclusive and engaging remote collaboration at scale.”

Nureva’s camera zones feature for the HDL410 system will be available in December, with the purchase of an INOGENI CAM230 multi-camera selector.
