Last month, 8x8 sent shockwaves through the world of cloud communications after announcing plans to acquire industry rival, Fuze. After working out the specific details and requirements for the deal, representatives with 8x8 revealed the $250 million acquisition is now complete.

“We are excited to welcome Fuze employees, customers and partners to 8x8. We are committed to supporting the Fuze platform, while offering the best of both platforms to all of our customers,” said Dave Sipes, Chief Executive Officer at 8x8, Inc. “With this acquisition we can further extend our XCaaS offering to deliver a differentiated experience for enterprise organizations, which is instrumental as we drive to become a $1 Billion revenue SaaS business.”

Both 8x8 and Fuze independently built solid reputations in the realm of cloud-based communication services, each offering vital phone and video services needed to thrive in the increasingly digital business landscape. Cloud communications is a necessity to remaining productive in distanced settings, with accelerated demand over the last two years highlighting this point.

Considering the expertise and industry knowledge of both companies, this deal could position 8x8 as a major global player in the increasingly competitive field of cloud communication support. Even with pandemic conditions expected to fade away in the coming months, remote and hybrid work will likely be permanent fixtures in business culture moving forward. This means the demand for cloud-based phone systems, video conferencing, contact center support, and chat capabilities will remain high across the world, especially for businesses looking to move beyond outdated technical infrastructure.
