Texas ISD Expands Capabilities; Reduces Cost with Lingo Cloud/UC Platform

Across the country, school systems are continuing to work with telecommunications systems that are older than many of their employees. These systems lack the type of technology advancements critical during the COVID-19 era when many districts are relying ,at least partially, on distance learning and conferencing.


Itasca ISD, a public independent school district (K-12) with more than 100 employees and more than 600 students in Itasca, Texas, was looking for a solution to eliminate its outdated phone system and replace the district’s POTS lines with a modern, efficient solution. The district was also seeking to increase its eight incoming phone lines, reduce high long-distance bills and improve the service and support from its ILEC service provider.

The district approached Lingo Communications through a local Lingo partner/agent. Lingo is an Atlanta-based cloud/unified communications and managed service provider that offers IP-based voice and data, mobile services, and other managed services to the business, carrier, and consumer markets. Thanks to implementation of Lingo's Cloud/UC platform, the district was able to implement an affordable solution that increased flexibility, scalability, and business continuity.

Once the district moved to the cloud, it was able to install an IP-phone in every classroom (more than 115 IP phones), add a paging system and e-fax capabilities within the Cloud/UC platform, eliminate high monthly long-distance bills and replace them with a low, consistent monthly cost, and receive service and support from Lingo that exceeds that provided by the district’s previous service provider.
