In an increasingly digital and virtual climate, public sector organizations are replacing legacy premise-based communications systems with secure and reliable integrated cloud contact center and communications products. The goal is to improve the constituent experience, and enable employees to work from anywhere, using any device.

8x8 Inc., a provider of voice over IP (VoIP) solutions to businesses and contact centers, recently announced that the State of Washington has signed a participating addendum with the company under the NASPO ValuePoint Cloud Solutions contract. Now that the addendum is signed, Washington State state, local and education (SLED) government agencies can purchase 8x8’s integrated cloud contact center, voice communications, chat, meetings and communications platform as a service (CPaaS) products directly from 8x8 or its channel partners. Washington joins Alaska as the second state to offer statewide participation in and access to the 8x8 NASPO ValuePoint Cloud Solutions Contract.

The National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) is a non-profit organization comprised of the chief procurement officials of all 50 states, Washington D.C., and several U.S. territories. It was organized after World War 2 to promote public procurement throughout the country. The NASPO ValuePoint facilitates administration of the NASPO cooperative group for the benefit of state departments, institutions, agencies, cities, counties, special districts, community colleges, universities, and some quasi-governmental and nonprofit organizations.

One of the organizations already taking advantage of the addendum is the Snohomish and Island counties library program, which was previously using an Avaya solution.

“We serve over 800,000 residents in Snohomish and Island counties through 23 community libraries, online services and Library on Wheels, and our vision is that everyone in the community is connected to their library,” said Nick Fuchs, Acting Director Technical Services at Sno-Isle Libraries. “Our legacy on-premises Avaya system hampered efforts and was difficult to manage with expensive monthly carrier costs. We look forward to moving our libraries and 500 employees to the 8x8 cloud platform and enhance communications with the community.”

8x8 notes that its integrated cloud contact center and communications platform helps public agencies modernize their communications, mix-and-match plans and services to meet their unique requirements and integrate business applications with the flexibility to adjust to changing needs in the future.
