Alerts, notifications and messaging are something we’ve become quite accustomed to. Six months ago it was typically a text message while waiting for a table at a restaurant or a weather advisory, but since COVID-19 critical communications systems have elevated in importance.

Genasys Inc, a provider of global critical communications systems announced a new partnership with location intelligence provider Esri to enhance the multi-channel Genasys platform.

"Partnering with Esri enhances our unified, multi-channel public safety platform by enabling more effective and accurate geofencing when notifying people in, or entering into, crisis-affected areas,” said Richard S. Danforth, CEO of Genasys. “Geospatial data created by current and prospective customers can now be seamlessly integrated and transferred into the Genasys platform.

When disaster strikes, responders require as much information as possible to make the most educated decisions; like with prevalence of contact tracing programs, geofencing and other location tools are increasingly important in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

"By leveraging Esri’s immense public library of map layers, we improve situational awareness for more precise alerting,” Mr. Danforth added. “Data can also be pushed to the public so people can see areas affected by wildfires, flooding, power outages, pandemic outbreaks and other critical events, and monitor them in real time."

Real estate agents have been saying it for years: location, location, location! Genasys is listening.
