UK Tech Incubator Initiates Remote Working Overnight

From startups to global enterprises, COVID-19 shifted the working paradigm. From collaborative, open and engaging work environments, to virtual, cloud-powered communications; the evolution is proving impactful, promising to see business through the pandemic.


Europe’s largest tech incubator, Level39 selected the 8x8 X Series platform to support the remote workforce during the COVID-19 quarantine. The group of 1,250 leaders from 200 tech companies at Level39 transitioned in less than 24 hours.

The deployment amounted to a drop in front-of-house workload by 15 percent, in addition to a 20 percent dip in administrative cost, while delivering the work from home functionality required. In April 2019, Level39 started its communications modernization initiative with the 8x8 X Series, once tasked with the transition to remote working; it was simply a matter of setting up redirects and virtual auto-attendants.

Qaunain Meghjee, Head of Technology at Level39, noted “Our focus at Level39 is to nurture some of the largest tech start-ups and leaders across Europe, but we were completely restricted by our telephony system, which did not reflect the innovative start-ups and scale-ups we work with. 8x8 has not only allowed us to give our staff and members access to exceptional communications technology, but when the current coronavirus crisis hit, our businesses could easily switch to remote working overnight, with minimal hassle at a stressful time.
