Telarus to Buy CarrierSales

November 01, 2017

By Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, TMC

Telarus is buying CarrierSales in all-stock deal that will create a master agent with $85 million in annual revenues.

That will make the company one of the largest master agents in the industry. Once the deal closes, the newly enlarged company will serve more than 4,000 agents.

It will be the top master agent for a wide array of cloud-based and network companies. That includes AT&T, Birch/Fusion, CenturyLink, Comcast Business, Cox, Spectrum, Telstra Verizon, Vonage, Windstream, and Zayo. It also includes 8x8, ACC Business, CentraComm, Five9, Granite, Mitel/ShoreTel, NICE inContact, Nitel, RingCentral, and others. The newly expanded company will generate more than $1.5 million in monthly revenue to service providers.

CarrierSales President Richard Murray will be an equal partner in the new business with Telarus’ co-founders. Adam Edwards and Patrick Osborn established Telarus, whose headquarters is just 5 miles away from CarrierSales. Based in Draper, Utah, CarrierSales last year bought Concierge Communications and in 2013 purchased CMS Communications. That has enabled CarrierSales to grow its product portfolio. Its offerings today include network, SD-WAN, and UCaaS offerings and related pricing tools.

“Richard Murray and the CarrierSales team have a strong track record of focusing on the individual partner and providing resources to help their partners achieve their goals, especially as it relates to UCaaS, contact center, and mobility – three areas where Telarus would like to invest and grow,” said Edwards, who is the Telarus CEO.

Many industry analysts expect great things for the unified communications market. Global Market Insights Inc. expects this space to be worth $96 billion by 2023. And Grand View Research Inc. expects this space to be valued at $143.49 billion by 2024. That helps explain why Cisco earlier this month announced plans to buy UC outfit BroadSoft for $1.9 billion. BroadSoft brings its UC solutions to market in collaboration with communication service provider partners.
