Comcast Business has upgraded its Business VoiceEdge cloud-based PBX solution with new capabilities, including unified communications (UC) and video calling features to serve the needs of SMBs. The solution is expected to help a distributed and mobile workforce. Also, users can manage their UC features easily from their iOS or Android mobile phones.

John Guillaume, vice president, product management at Comcast Business, said, “Our new Business VoiceEdge mobility capabilities give workers seamless voice and unified communications that are tightly integrated with both their corporate offices and their preferred mobile devices. These capabilities allow employees to improve their communications and productivity while at the office, on the road or working remotely.”

Both existing and new business VoiceEdge customers will benefit from features such as the VoiceEdge mobile application, which is available as a free download for iOS and Android operating systems. The mobile app serves as an easy-to-use interface that helps businesses manage voicemail and “Be Anywhere” features. This facilitates the answering of phone calls from any phone and from anywhere.

The teleworker capability allows business VoiceEdge to be installed at an employee’s home office also offering similar voice capabilities as in the office.

The softphone feature is made available for PC and Mac machines enabling users to make and receive phone calls directly from their computer by leveraging their business phone number. If a video camera is present it can also enable video calling.

Built-in and external cameras can be used to deliver video calling capability which enables point-to-point HD-quality video calls for Business VoiceEdge phones. This feature can be enabled during a phone call by pressing a button.

Business VoiceEdge suits the needs of both small and large business as mobility enhances productivity significantly. The mobility features of Business VoiceEdge augments the user’s ability to communicate, collaborate, innovate and serve customers better, even when away from office.

In May 2013, Comcast Business announced that PBS Coals, the fourth-largest coal producer in Pennsylvania, is using its Ethernet services to deliver high-bandwidth, fiber-based connectivity in multiple locations across Somerset County.

Comcast Business Ethernet services are designed to offer high-performance point-to-point and multi-point Ethernet services across bandwidth-intensive applications. These services are capable of delivering scalable bandwidth from one Mbps up to 10 Gigabits-per-second (Gbps) in more than 20 major U.S markets and can perform out-of-band management functions as well.
