Q'ligent's Vision Offers Analysis, Monitoring for Linear TV

By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Contributor

Q’ligent provides monitoring and visualization solutions for such diverse organizations as ad agencies, broadcasters, content distributors, network operators and regulators – through cloud-based monitoring. Among its offerings is Vision, the company’s software-defined solution, which provides analysis for linear TV.

Lightweight and economical, Vision lets broadcasters and network operators improve the quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) for consumers. That is done via media analysis, to where signals reach consumers. In addition, Vision can capture, collect and analyze quality parameters for linear TV delivery, including over-the-air, cable, satellite, IPTV (News - Alert) and OTT (over the top) platforms.

“The result is a full understanding of the TV viewing experience for over-the-air, cable, satellite, and IPTV delivery, without the costs or complexity associated with bandwidth-heavy backhaul and platform-specific monitoring,” the company explained in a statement.

“We’re giving our customers an intuitive and limitless service that centralizes all critical media quality analysis of their channel distribution, across multiple delivery platforms, onto a single user interface,” Ted Korte COO, Q’ligent, said in the company statement.

Typically, broadcasters and network operators manage increasing headends and delivery platforms, Korte adds. That means there are not enough resources for divergent systems. But Vision’s cloud-based software allows users to centrally visualize information collected over IP from software-defined probes. The probes are an economical option to expensive components and point-based solutions. The probes let users monitor information from streams and signal paths. They then are used to measure, test, troubleshoot and verify signals, the company said. The technology provides both predictive analytics and performance trends. It can identify possible issues that could impact signal integrity, as well.

Overall, Q’ligent’s solutions can be used with PayTV (News - Alert) systems, web and mobile services, and with free over-the-air TV.
