Mercury Computer Systems, a provider of embedded computing solutions for image, sensor, and signal processing applications, has launched Ensemble MCH2020 MicroTCA Carrier Hub and 12-slot MicroTCA chassis system components.
The announcement was made in Tokyo where the company has had significant success with its family of ATCA/MicroTCA products. Mercury Computer says that the newly launched solutions can be combined with a wide range of current AdvancedMC (News - Alert) mezzanine cards (AMCs) to create powerful, small form factor solutions.
"We are excited to be expanding our range of solutions in the fast-growing ATCA/MicroTCA (News - Alert) market," said Mark Aslett, president and chief executive officer of Mercury Computer Systems.
"Customers in telecommunications and semiconductor manufacturing need to support very high data rates with consistent, low-latency processing power. Our Ensemble ATCA systems do that by combining the RapidIO (News - Alert) switch fabric with a broad choice of processing elements.”
Aslett also mentioned that this launch will now allow customers to use the same system architecture in a MicroTCA solution and achieve impressive levels of performance in a smaller, very cost-effective form factor."
"Mercury and our business partners are working together to help a number of Japanese customers address significant real-time computing challenges," said Ken Kimura, representative director of Nihon Mercury Computer Systems K. K.
According to Kimura, these new MicroTCA platforms expand the range of technology options available for their combined solutions team.
The Ensemble MCH2020 MicroTCA Carrier Hub from Mercury Computer Systems is a cost-effective keystone for a range of flexible MicroTCA system configurations. The product is available in three options:
-
Foundational MCH module, supporting a Gigabit Ethernet base interface and an intelligent platform management interface (IPMI)
-
MicroTCA carrier hub (MCH) with clock module
-
Combined MCH, clock module, and RapidIO switch module.
Mercury Computer says that the new Ensemble MCH2020 MicroTCA Carrier Hub can be readily configured with any combination of Ensemble processing AMCs to create a high-performance, real-time system.
The Ensemble 12-Slot MicroTCA Chassis is a 4U, 19-inch rack-mountable unit with 12 AMC slots and two switch/hub slots, which has the capability to offer a cost-effective architecture for a variety of MicroTCA applications.
This chassis supports high-bandwidth backplane communications with a dual-star RapidIO topology.
