PDSi Announces Powerful ATCA-F1 Compute Blade Upgrade

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Pinnacle Data Systems, Inc. (PDSi) has upgraded its military-proven ATCA-F1 Compute Blade.

Officials with PDSi said that incorporating Dual, Six Core AMD (News - Alert) Istanbul processors delivers 12 cores, providing a performance boost versus the Shanghai (8 cores) or Santa Rosa (4 cores) configurations. In addition, a new 32 GB memory option brings enhanced virtualization performance.

"This upgrade to our ATCA Embedded Computing offerings demonstrates our continued commitment to providing our customers the most current technology solutions," said John D. Bair, president and CEO of PDSi.

Bair said that this new F1 option delivers nearly three-times the processing power of the company’s original dual-core based product, giving telecom, aerospace, and military OEMs and integrators the ability to deploy configurable, scalable, high-reliability solutions based on AMD's Opteron processor technologies.

“We can also provide customization, ruggedization, turnkey integration and support of ATCA systems, as well as extended warranty and repair services. Because the design incorporates key components supported by embedded roadmaps, we can ensure support of long-lifecycle programs," he added.

Company officials said that PDSi's ATCA-F1 blade and its companion RTM (ATCA-RT01) are VMware-certified and targeted at the industries including-rugged military servers; flexible aerospace platforms and powerful telecom convergence.

PDSi is a global provider of electronics repair and reverse logistics services, ODM/OEM integrated computing services, and embedded computing products and design services for the diversified computing, telecom, imaging, defense/aerospace, medical, semiconductor and industrial automation markets.

PDSi provides a variety of engineering and manufacturing services for global OEMs requiring custom product design, system integration, repair programs, warranty management, and/or specialized production capabilities.

Back in October Pinnacle Data Systems (News - Alert) announced that it has achieved Gold Partner status in the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). By attaining Gold Level membership, Oracle (News - Alert) has recognized PDSi for its capability and commitment to design, deliver and support Oracle-based technology solutions customized to customers’ specialized needs.
