Metaswitch Networks, a provider of advanced carrier services and communications software solutions, and Varaha Systems, a provider of fixed-mobile convergence technology, announced they have been selected by DSM (News - Alert) Telecom, a Nova Scotia Canada-based company, to provide enhanced FMC features to DSM's customers.

DSM Telecom provides carrier-grade hosted PBX (News - Alert), SIP trunking and FMC solutions. Additionally the company offers voice, conferencing and professional services such as bill analysis, network design and Wi-Fi optimization.

The combination of Metaswitch and Varaha's uMobility solutions deliver advanced features to customers over virtually any network using the most advanced smartphones such as Apple's iPhone, RIM's BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia (News - Alert), company officials said.

DSM Telecom thinks that the combination of Metaswitch and Varaha is key to their service delivery model. With the new solution, DSM's customers can take advantage of any available broadband or wireless network, making the office or home completely mobile, company officials said.

Earlier in March, Starhome, a provider of mobile roaming solutions, selected Metaswitch's IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) or "IMS" protocol software products, TMCnet reported.

In April, Varaha announced it is offering its mobile client software to NEC to deliver mobile unified communications, according to a blog at TMCnet.
