DataChambers Helps Synergem Bring Next Generation 911 Technology to 911 Services Agencies

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

DataChambers (News - Alert), a mid-market IT and managed service provider (MSP), has announced that Synergem Emergency Services, which supplies benchmark Next Generation 911 network technology to 911 services agencies throughout the U.S., selected the company to host systems that will deliver a Next Generation 911 network and applications to public safety agencies.

Next Generation 911 systems help locate 911 callers more accurately and route calls to the correct public safety answering point. With this highly mobile, easily expandable solution, public safety agencies can respond to almost any contingency including natural disasters.

“Synergem is on the forefront of a revolution in how 911 services are delivered and managed in communities across the nation,” said Nicholas Kottyan (News - Alert), chief executive officer of DataChambers, in a statement.  “We’re delighted to support them in building their business.”

“Calls to 911 can be a matter of life and death.” said Myron Herron, Synergem’s president and chief operating officer, in a statement.  “Downtime is not an option, which is why we chose DataChambers to host our mission-critical technologies.”

Surry County and the city of Winston-Salem will be the first to use the new network. The service is expected to be online by June 30, 2011, according to company officials.

Synergem’s systems will be housed in a highly secure, blast-resistant facility supported by an onsite Duke Energy (News - Alert) substation and multiple backup generators.  DataChambers is a SAS (News - Alert) 70 Type II audited company. It maintains a comprehensive, multilevel security program that will safeguard Synergem’s systems and data.

“DataChambers is supported by enough bandwidth that if a ‘100-year’ event occurs, 911 calls will not be blocked because of network limitations,” Herron said.  “That was a deciding factor in choosing the company, along with their commitment to security and high availability.”

Important features of the multi-level security program include biometric scanners, card scanners and a campus-wide surveillance system. An on-site “carrier hotel” delivers redundant connectivity to the fiber networks of virtually every major communications carrier in the nation.

DataChambers is a full-service information technology and managed services provider specializing in electronic data storage, 24/7 managed information technology solutions, secure co-location services for mission-critical information technology infrastructure, secure tape vaulting, and offsite records storage and management.

Earlier last year, DataChambers announced a company-wide integration through the use of Tigerpaw business building software. As part of this integration, DataChambers integrated sales, operations and accounting so that they can interact more efficiently and improves workflow throughout the organization.
