Sony Intros Two New Notebooks w/ Blue-Ray

By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Sony, a company that manufactures and distributes broadcast and consumer electronic products, has reportedly introduced two new notebooks named the VAIO NS and CS models, which are equipped with Blu-ray Disc technology.

The VAIO NS notebook is equipped with the power of an Intel (News - Alert) Core 2 Duo processor, significant RAM and ample storage, apart from the tools required for everyday computing. The notebook features an optional Blu-ray Disc-ROM drive that is ideal for viewing HD content, with added convenience of DVD and CD read/write functionalities.

Featuring a 15.4-inch widescreen display, the VAIO NS notebook harnesses Sony's own XBRITE-ECO LCD technology to present sharp details and vivid colors to the users.

To provide easy access to music, movies and the Internet, the NS notebook offers an integrated A/V mode with a dedicated menu, through which the users can select up to nine programs, such as a favorite web site, from one location.

The prices of the VAIO NS notebook will begin at about $650, the Blu-ray Disc model beginning at about $1,000, while the notebook is available in three colors, which are nightfall blue, silk white and granite silver.

The VAIO CS notebook offers a 14.1-inch widescreen display and XBRITE-ECO LCD technology for sharp images, and an optional Blu-ray Disc-ROM drive for watching HD entertainment is also available with this model.

Available in four glossy colors, which are sangria, cosmopolitan, dove and black, the notebook is also available in a standard black matte finish. To provide the users with a comfortable typing experience, the VAIO CS notebook features a uniquely configured keyboard, designed with spacing between the keys.

To add the fun touch, a specialized keyboard font is also included in the unit, with a 12-tone music analyzer that translates the music into a colorful LED light show that plays out beneath the palm rest of the PC. Powered by an optional Intel Centrino 2 processor technology, the prices of the VAIO CS model begin at about $920, while the Blue Ray Drive model begins at about $1,070.

Both the VAIO NS and CS notebooks will be available online at http://www.sonystyle.com/pr/fall, and will also be available at Sony Style stores and select retailers around the country beginning this fall.
