Cellhut.com has decided to launch a campaign in April to raise public awareness about safe driving, especially focusing on driving while using a cell phone.

The “Drive Safe With Cellhut” campaign involves distributing a total of half a million mobile phone headsets, of the LG brand, free of cost. The only charge levied is $0.99 for the shipping fee. The headsets are available from the Internet site, Cellhut.com.

The “Drive Safe With Cellhut” campaign is being implemented because the President, Bawa Bhasin, sees Cellhut.com “as having a special stake in the way technology intersects with daily life. We are in the fortunate position of being able to make a positive change in peoples’ lives by educating them about emerging technology.”

The idea behind giving away headsets is the premise that it will generate awareness as well as encourage the use of hands-free mobile usage. Bhasin went on to add, that for those people who are unsure about using a headset, or ignorant of their utility, the campaign forms a perfect base to start from.

The dangers of driving while using a mobile phone have been seen for some time now. The biggest demographic of cell phone users is the teenager segment, and the number of accidents in the same segment correlates the two facts. While driving, the use of a mobile phone reduces concentration dramatically, and also hampers the quick thinking instinct one would normally have. New York is one of many states who have already implemented a ban on cell phone usage while driving.

The campaign will take off on the first of April, and people can order their headset from the website. Conditions apply in terms of only two headsets being allowed per household, and only a total of half a million headsets are available.
