uPlay introduced a new handheld GPS rangefinder, the uPro. It is expected to provide golfers the best of both GPS and Laser technologies in a small, easy-to-use system.
Company officials pointed out that uPro features color imagery, detailed course lay-outs, video flyovers and aerial views of every hole on the course.
In addition, the uPro allows the golfer to get exact distances to and from any point on the course. Golfers can know how far they can hit the ball and still lay-up in front of a hazard, and it also tells them how far they have to carry the hazard.
The key feature of the uPro is Pro Mod. In Pro Mode, uPlay’s patent pending SmartView technology automatically generates the proper views of the course based on a golfer's current location and updates those views appropriately as they move on the golf course.
Company officials explained that three different views allow the player to plan out the perfect shot. Also, Pro Mode gives a golfer all the distances they need on a single screen, and scale accurate measurements are used to measure to and from any point on the golf course, even the outskirts of the rough.
“It was our goal to develop a distance-measuring device with the most advanced features and optimum usability,” Joseph Balardeta, co founder and president of uPlay, said in a press release. “The uPro allows golfers to see the course and the game from a whole new perspective.”
He also expected that the uPro’s breakthrough design and advanced technology will revolutionize the golf rangefinder industry and make it an indispensable part of the game.
uPlay, LLC, is an integrated products design company co-founded by Joseph Balardeta and Scott Denton.
