ABI Research Previews the Year to Come in Digital Media and Consumer Electronics

By Brian Solomon, TMCnet Web Editor

ABI Research (News - Alert) is putting out a white paper called "What’s Not Going to Happen in 2008." It is currently available for free download from the company's Web site.

Since there are many things which technically “won't happen in 2008,” ABI Research analysts focused on some of the company's main areas of expertise, which includes digital media, consumer electronics, mobile handsets, Wi-Fi, wireless networks and RFID. By singling out technologies they’re confident won't be setting the market ablaze next year, they can isolate what will happen through the course of the rest of the decade.

Among their conclusions are that plug-in hybrid vehicles won’t make a big splash in next year, and that Motorola’s (News - Alert) mobile devices division won’t find stability. They also analyze the continued lack of Wi-Fi security, and the future of handset navigation systems.
