Staples to Offer Seagate Data Recovery Services in its Stores

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Seagate Recovery Services, a Seagate Technology (News - Alert) Company, has joined hands with Staples, the office product company, to offer data recovery services in Staples stores all over the U.S.

As per this ‘Security by Staples’ initiative, Staples’ customers who have problems recovering data from any brand or type of digital device can take it any Staples store for data recovery. Data which is sometimes more valuable than the hardware component itself is created in great volumes all over the world by individuals and businesses. It is reported that more data was created between 2006 and 2008 than ever before. This digital data is prone to loss due to mechanical failure of device, fire, water or any other reason and then requires expert handling, software technologies and physical reconstruction to recover them. According to a press release, the in-store EasyTech service staff of all the Staples stores will use Seagate Recovery Services to assess and rectify these types of problems.

Rob Di Pietro, director of product services, Staples, said “Through our work with Seagate Recovery Services, Staples is able to offer our customers comprehensive data recovery solutions and help them protect their valuable digital assets.”

Staples has nearly 69,000 trained personnel and offers a wide range of office products including office furniture and business solutions.

Staples’ Easy Tech technicians are trained in software and hardware installations, data protection security and troubleshooting. When customers come in with a digital device to retrieve “inaccessible” data, the technician using Seagate Recovery Service expertise and resources will assess it for free and give an estimate of the cost of data retrieval. Once the customer agrees, he would proceed further and copy the retrieved data onto a USB hard drive, which comes with a 2 year limited warranty. Staples will allow customer feedback on the progress of recovery and does not charge if unsuccessful.

With 20 years of experience behind it in recovering data from various digital devices like disk drives, CDs, DVDs, external drives, RAID arrays, and other tape and optical media, Seagate Recovery Services is the first vendor in this field to get ISO 9001:2000 certification. It is supported by Seagate Technology the disk drive supplier.

“With the growing amount of information and important records kept on personal computers and digital devices, there is a great need for customers to restore and preserve their data in the event of a hard drive crash or data loss,” points out Jay Remley, president of Seagate Recovery Services. “By combining the reach, convenience and in-store expertise of Staples EasyTech with Seagate Recovery Services' data recovery experience and knowledge, Staples customers will have access to an extremely valuable and reliable recovery service.”

Seagate Recovery Services is an innovator in the data recovery, data migration and e Discovery services which retrieves data from any affected digital device.
