By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributing Editor

AT&T (News - Alert) Inc. has signed an agreement with Dave Matthews Band, according to a wire report. The partnership will offer wireless customers access to selected ringtones for the first time. The exclusive offer is for a limited period and will soon be followed by a wider range of ringtones from the renowned rock band. As a matter of fact, ringtones from Dave Matthews Band ringtones are available through any wireless carrier for the first time ever.

"Until now, Dave Matthews Band was one of the most searched for terms not found in our robust collection for ringtones on wireless phones," Mark Collins (News - Alert), vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T's wireless unit, was quoted as saying in the report. "We are pleased to introduce the first ringtones from the world-renowned Dave Matthews Band to our customers. AT&T already has the largest mobile music catalog in the industry, and this addition helps to expand our offerings even further."

Starting from November 14, AT&T will offer ringtones of popular songs sung by the band.  The service will start with the live version of "Ants Marching." The early release of "Ants Marching" will coincide with AT&T World's Loudest Pep Rally concerts. The concerts, which feature Dave Matthews Band, will be held on Nov. 14 and 15 at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

For nearly six weeks, fans of the music band from 120 participating NCAA universities had sent creative invitations through AT&T wireless text messages and the AT&T blue room Web site.

Customers can also purchase the ringtones for $2.49 or sign up for AT&T's My MEdia Club. The My MEdia Club will help subscribers accumulate credits, which can be redeemed for ringtones, graphics and games in the MEdia Mall for one monthly charge. There are three subscription options that offer up to 40 percent in savings on purchases.

  • The Starter Pack costs $5.99 a month and allows subscribers to get six ringtones, three ringtones and three graphics, three ringtones and one game, or any other combination up to 30 credits.
  • The Super Saver costs $9.99 a month
  • The Premium Player costs $14.99 a month.

Customers can subscribe for My MEdia Club from their phone by sending a text message or through the MEdia Mall.
