Callpod Intros New Bluetooth 2.0 Headset with Dual-Mic Noise Suppression Technology

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Callpod has introduced the new Dragon headset, a CES (News - Alert) Innovations 2008 Awards Honoree. Boasting a sleek design, the Dragon headset is for Bluetooth mobile phones, PDAs VOIP products and computers. The new device delivers excellence via unmatched range, superior voice clarity and an overall high-quality, user-friendly experience.

The company explains that the Dragon silences ambient noise and annoying pops and clicks. Thanks to its proprietary Dual-Mic Noise Suppression technology, the headset isolates the user’s voice while removing background noise. This is achieved through new Bluetooth technology such as enhanced audio channels called eSCO, which are also used by the iPhone (News - Alert). Callpod points out that SCO links are also supported. Due to its advanced Dual-Microphone Noise Suppression, callers on the other end hear a crystal clear voice almost anywhere.

With the Dragon, users can leave the phone 100 meters or 328 feet behind and freely roam around the home or office. This headset can also connect with the PC for Skype (News - Alert) calls simultaneously. This capability allows users to switch between the PC and mobile phone with a press of a button.

The Dragon has two reversible earwraps to easily slip on and off of ears of all sizes. It can be comfortably worn all day or for short-time use and is easy to operate with the two-button design for enhanced call control functionality.

Darren Guccione, Callpod CEO and co-founder said that their goal was to design a superior headset that anyone could use and that outperformed all others on the market.

“With the Dragon’s proprietary Dual-Mic Noise Suppression technology, and ease-of-use along with a comfortable sleek design, we feel we have done that. We've made it our mission to deliver high-class, high-performance products that consumers will take notice of. We don’t want to be the cheapest or smallest, we want to be the best out there,” explained Guccione in a statement.

The Dragon can also be used with other Dragon headsets for two-way or Nextel-like communication over a 250,000+ sq ft space. Taking about 3 hours to fully charge via USB port Callpod’s new headset can provide up to 8 hours talk time and nearly 300 hours standby. Additionally, it can connect to multiple devices i.e. Skype and cell phone with auto-switching. Moreover, these devices can provide simultaneous connections to Skype and phone, two phones or the Dragon and a cell phone.

Callpod is an emerging technology company that has created and patented unique audio conferencing and content sharing technologies for wireless consumer electronic devices and cellular telephones.
