Alert) is shipping its new WD Scorpio 320 GB 2.5-inch SATA hard drives for portable storage devices and notebook computers according to a company announcement today.
"Consumer demands for high capacity storage are stronger than ever. WD is again leading the industry by delivering high quality, high capacity product to the market with the introduction of its new WD Scorpio 320 GB hard drive," said Acer Inc.’s VP of mobile business computing unit Campbell Kan. "WD understands the increasing storage requirements of the notebook market, allowing Acer to introduce high-capacity notebook solutions that meet our customer's ever-growing demands."
The WD Scorpio 320 GB SATA hard drive is the product of significant investments in proprietary head technologies. The introduction of its latest-generation drives continues WD’s reputation for quality, reliability and performance.
WD uses advanced media and head technology to achieve a high-capacity 2.5-inch, slim, 9.5mm form-factor hard drive. The drive includes proprietary features that make it extremely quiet while at the same time running at an acceptably cool operating temperature. The WD Scorpio 320 GB hard drives are destined for use in OEM notebook platforms that offer the highest storage capacities to the worldwide market, delivering high performance with 3 Gb/s transfer rate.
