T-Mobile ( News - Alert) has introduced the T-Mobile Shadow, the first phone in a planned franchise of phones “Shadow” branded devices.
T-Mobile said the new Shadow is designed to reduce the complexity often associated with many feature-rich devices, while maintaining all the calling, messaging, and picture sharing capabilities.
“We’re calling the new line of devices ‘Shadow’ because they’re designed to help people stay effortlessly connected with those who are closest to them” said Robert Dotson, president and CEO at T-Mobile USA, in a press release.
Last year, T-mobile introduced myFaves, a service that provides unlimited nationwide calling and one-click communications access to a select group of contacts. Doston says that the Shadow includes myFaves functionality, which will enable users to call, send an e-mail, IM, and share pictures, videos, or voice notes, all with a push of the button from the myFaves home screen.
In addition, the new device features is a dual mode phone, incorporating both WiFi and EDGE-enabled Internet access. Shadow is also equipped with T-Mobile Address Book that enables users to easily import contact information from Yahoo, Gmail, Microsoft ( News - Alert) Outlook and other e-mail services onto their phone using my.t-mobile.com, and automatically back up their phone’s address book online.
Bellevue, Washington based T-Mobile has teamed up with HTC ( News - Alert) to integrate the phone’s form and function. “We partnered exclusively with T-Mobile to help them deliver a deep communications experience that is built around the customer,” said Peter Chou, president and CEO at HTC.
Doston expects that Shadow will make staying connected to people simple, fun and easy and without the hassle of using a complicated device. He added, “This phone is designed for people who have lives beyond work.”
