New HD Flip Video Cameras Offer Next-Gen Quality, More Fun

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

As video continues to grow in popularity for today’s connected users, Cisco (News - Alert) is staying ahead of the market and introducing products to make capturing and sharing video, fun and easy.

Today, Flip announced a new line-up for it Flip Video “shoot-and-share” cameras - UltraHD and MinoHD - that take the well-known cameras simplicity and affordability a step further and offers extended personalization capabilities and improved video quality.

“This is without question the best line of Flip Video cameras we’ve ever created,” said Jonathan Kaplan, senior vice president and general manager of Cisco Consumer Products.

Not only does this latest line-up combine the simplicity and affordability that have made Flip cameras so popular – but new hardware-based image stabilization now makes HD video quality possible.

More specifically, the cameras now offer clear, steady video by combining always-on image stabilization technology with 720p resolution at 60 frames per second.

Available starting at $149.99 today from the Flip Video Store, Best Buy and Amazon.com (News - Alert), the new Flip video cameras are pre-loaded with the latest version of FlipShare – where users can easily organize, edit and share their videos. The latest version of FlipShare also includes “direct share” capabilities for Twitter. This is an extension to the already popular Facebook and YouTube (News - Alert) direct share functionality.

Company officials also said their cameras will soon be available at Wal-Mart, Target and Staples.

In addition to the new line of cameras, Flip also announced today, “Designed for Flip,” so users can find products and accessories made especially for their cameras. Items like wide angle lenses, external microphones, battery chargers and portable projectors are available.

Aside from the new MinoHD, two new models of the Flip Video UltraHD were introduced– the UltraHD 2 hour and UltraHD 1 hour devices.

The UltraHD 2 hour has a slimmer design to make it easier to carry the camera in a pocket or purse and now includes “FlipPort” – a connector for adding accessories from the new “Designed for Flip Program.”

And for users looking to have a truly unique device, the company has also announced the ability to choose personalized designs for the video cameras at no extra cost. At the Flip Online Store users can choose from artists, celebrities, brands, or upload their own images to make the Flip uniquely their own.

In related news, iGo, Inc., a  provider of mobile accessories and power management solutions announced today its already signed up to work with Cisco for their new “Designed for Flip” accessory program and will offer a custom Flip iGo Charge Anywhere, iGo Overtime Backup Battery and iGo Pocket Projector.
