Appliance
iConnectMail, a plug-and-play, IP-based voice messaging product that
unifies voice and e-mail messaging into one appliance has been introduced by
Connected Systems. The product uses DSP-based voice compression technology
to store and transmit messages over data networks, and also works with
standard desktop applications for unified management, access, storage, and
retrieval of all messages. iConnectMail also integrates with business
telephone systems and e-mail servers, and may be deployed as a gateway to
enhanced messaging services, or as a stand-alone integrated messaging
system.
X-Site Operator Offers Speech Recognition-Driven Call
Routing
Intraco Systems has announced the launch of the X-Site Operator
advanced call routing system, which interprets voice commands through speech
recognition technology to intelligently route calls through a remotely
hosted system. X-Site offers built-in recognition of multiple pronunciations
through Intraco's technology, Web-based administration, and a standard
caller greeting available 24/7. The system is the front end of Intraco's
X-Site Total Office services suite.
Derivion Announces DigitalCare E-billling/CRM Services
Leveraging traditional and Internet-based CRM as well as e-billing
services, the DigitalCare initiative from Derivion empowers billers and
offers Activation Marketing for accelerating end-user adoption of e-billing.
The service was designed for an ASP environment, where self-empowerment,
biller control, 24/7 access to technical experts, and reporting and account
analysis tools are necessary. DigitalCare enables browser-based end-user
access, electronic interaction with customer service representatives, and
the inetBiller Console, which enables billers to manage the entire process
through a Web browser.
Centrinity Extends Unified Messaging Solution To Hosted
Market
In a logical extension of its FirstClass Unified Messaging solution,
Centrinity has launched a hosted unified communications and collaboration
service. The new solution will be offered to end users through partnerships
with ASPs, carriers, service providers, resellers, and channel partners. The
hosted FirstClass solution features an architecture built on a single
collaborative store, and users can access voice mail, fax messages, and
e-mail from one mailbox through the device of their choice. Phone access is
enabled through built-in text-to-speech capability.
HotVoice Communications Suite (HVCS) Offers Unified IP
Telephony Services
Unified messaging, instant messaging, and Internet telephony chat
services are bundled into one hosted package with the new HVCS service from
HotVoice Communications. All features are available through telephones,
wireless devices, Web browsers, and the HotVoice Communicator desktop
product through the suite, which is offered as a private label service
offering for ISPs, telcos, Web sites, and small to medium-sized businesses.
The HotVoice infrastructure is made up of communication hubs in 45 countries
with local gateway numbers.
Fusion Networks Delivers ASP-based CRM Solutions
Using its existing ICRM/V2 Portal Software solution, Fusion Networks
will deliver a suite of modular software applications for Internet CRM. The
solution offers multimedia portal operations to businesses and can be
delivered in 15 days. Software modules will provide third-party consultants
and IT personnel with tools to adapt to the needs of each business.
Available modules include a user administration and profiling server, an ad
server, a direct e-mail server, and a content server.
Total-e for ASPs Enables Dynamic Application Delivery
TeleKnowledge has announced an ASP-oriented solution based on its
Total-e business infrastructure software. Total-e for ASPs helps service
providers attract and retain customers through value-based pricing models
linked to customer-specific service level agreements (SLAs). It also allows
ASPs to track and manage revenue and payments from diverse suppliers like
ISPs and ISVs. It features a modular, plug-and-play architecture, and

Eyeball.com has released the Eyeball Chat Limited Edition 1.0 free
video service to enable users with all types of Internet access from dial-up
to broadband to wireless to use video communications with superior video
quality. The lightweight Eyeball Chat client allows users to multi-task
while video chatting, and features a personal quality profile in which users
can specify the importance of video quality features like frame rate, audio
performance, and picture quality. Eyeball.com's technology allocates
resources according to these specifications as bandwidth fluctuates during a
call.
E-commerce Payment Service Provider Launches Hosted
Billing Solutions
eBillit, a spinoff of Integretel, has announced a suite of billing
solutions that enable digital products, content purchases, and Internet
services to be charged directly to a consumer's local phone bill, a Web
bill, or a direct bill in addition to a credit card. The solutions are known
as eBillit PhoneBill, WebBill, and DirectBill respectively. DirectBill is a
complete outsourced billing and collection service, and may be used as a
stand-alone solution, or in combination with PhoneBill for direct
residential and business billing, particularly for multiple services.
WebBill is an electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) service, and
can be private labeled, along with DirectBill.

GoBeam has announced its self-managed, business-quality communication
services, which allow users to activate and initiate calls from a Web
interface. The services also enable business communication features on
digital telephone sets from standard Web browsers, and include collaboration

for their customers, and services may be delivered over any broadband
network.
Voicecom Launches Orchestrate 2000 Unified Communication
Services
The latest generation of Orchestrate services from Voicecom, a unit
of Ptek Holdings, enables users to make phone and conference calls, to check
and update calendars. and to receive daily information like news stories and
stock quotes - as well as check voice, fax, and e-mail messages. Accessible
from any Internet-enabled phone or device, the service assigns a local
number to subscribers, or gives them the option of a personal 800 number if

TalkingNets has announced the rollout of their IP-based network and
enhanced services platform, which uses softswitch technology to send voice
and data. Services are now available in Denver and Cleveland, with plans to
expand to a total of 25 cities throughout the U.S. The platform allows
service providers to offer customers features like personalized ring tones,
virtual PBX services, number-specific call forwarding, and standard voice

VoiceXML-compliant applications developed through VoiceGenie's

Business Link International has announced an outsourced CRM system
which integrates FrontRange Technology's Goldmine FrontOffice CRM software
for full-service CRM and fulfillment functionality. The system allows small

any location through the Internet. Special features include action alerts

VerbalTek, Inc. has introduced the VerbalNET 1.0 solution, which
enables PDA and mobile device users to navigate the wireless Internet
through speaker-independent speech recognition. The solution eliminates text
input via keypad, scrolling, and handwriting recognition, and is useful for
tasks like inputting stock quotes or conducting m-commerce. VerbalNET
automatically reformats Web page content so it may fit on the small display
screens of mobile devices. It is available for Windows CE and will also be
integrated with the Palm OS, Linux PDAs, and mobile handset protocols like
WAP and i-mode.
New Voice Mail Service from eVoice Designed For Voice
ASPs
The eVoice Premium service from eVoice is designed for residential
and small business customers, and allows users to consolidate home, office,
and cell phone messages into one mailbox. Users may organize and manage
their daily voice communications through the service, and may use their
existing telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. Other features include
creation of multiple mailbox extensions, notification of new messages via
e-mail, pager, or cell phone, and personalized greetings. Service providers
may easily partner with eVoice to deploy the service, without investing in

IBM Initiative Aimed At Telecommunications Service
Provider Applications
IBM has announced an initiative to leverage its hardware, software,
and services with key equipment manufacturers and independent software
vendors to offer service providers integrated solutions. The integrated set
of offerings includes NEBS-compliant servers and storage, Tivoli service
management tools and consulting, carrier-grade middleware, and systems
integration and operations services. Solutions include wireless e-business
offerings, support for an IP-based broadband infrastructure, and IP
telephony solutions.
Personal Communications Service Offers Voice, Video, And
Text Messaging
VocalTec has launched a personal communications service through
their subsidiary, TrulyGlobal, using their Web-based client. The Personal
Communications Assistant from TrulyGlobal allows users to pre-screen calls
and forward them to any location or communication device in the U.S. Other
features include instant messaging, a personal contact book for storing call
history and messages, and the capability to forward or receive messages in
whatever format the user's device can support. Free worldwide calling is
also available through TrulyGlobal's PC-to-PC calling service.
Net2Phone Introduces Enhanced Services Suite
Real-time inbound call management, information, communication, and
commerce speech recognition services, and outbound calling from any device
are all enabled through Net2Phone's new enhanced services suite. The
PC-based services include free PC-to-phone calling in the U.S., free
worldwide PC-to-PC calling, free worldwide voice e-mails, and a free
Internet Answering Machine through CallWave. Other features include low-cost
PC-to-phone and PC-to-fax services.
PathFinderIWR From Vodavi-CT Enables Interactive Web
Response Applications
Vodavi-CT, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vodavi Technology, has
announced implementation of several Internet-based Web response applications
through its new PathFinder Interactive Web Response (IWR) product.
PathFinderIWR gives call centers and businesses access to data via Web
browsers, and allows them to automate routine queries and visually navigate
information, conducting easy, self-service transactions. PathFinder runs on
Windows NT and offers voice mail and auto-attendant capabilities, with
support for up to 200 simultaneous users.
Voice ASP Launches Speech Recognition Services
IntoVoice has introduced a platform that supports voice portal
operations for wireless carriers, long-term partnering with wireless
carriers, and easy addition of new services. The company offers speech
recognition services on a hosted basis for the mobile infrastructure,
featuring a wide array of delivery options including voice portals, voice
intranets, and voice-enabled information access services, for retrieval of
personalized and public information.

Network Telephony System Release 3.3 Introduced By Tundo
Tundo has announced the latest release (3.3) of its Network
Telephony System (NTS), which allows application developers to more easily
create new media applications, in addition to integrating existing ones. The
new release also lets service providers offer a greater variety of voice
services, and empowers enterprises to add voice to their hosted network
services. It offers enhancements to the existing Media FrameWork for call
routing and reporting, playback of voice information, and monitoring and
recording, as well as the Tundo Media Server multipoint conferencing unit.
Blue Wave Launches FACT Real Time Solution For Embedded
Applications
The latest extension of the ComStruct family of communications
processing building blocks has been introduced by Blue Wave Systems. FACT
Real Time (FACT-RT) enables quick development of high-density embedded
applications like wireless transcoding, fax services, and voice archival.
This integrated solution allows developers to utilize powerful digital
signal processor (DSP) resources without the need for complicated DSP

Philips Speech Processing has introduced the SpeechPearl 2000 speech
recognition engine, the heart of its SpeechMania voice platform. The engine
enables IVR systems to understand natural speech, and features support for
20 languages. It is designed for telecom applications including voice access
to white and yellow pages, automated directory assistance, voice portals,
messaging systems, and customer service call centers. Specific features
include support for open and closed grammars, interpretation of the meaning
of a caller's request, the ability to assign attributes to words with the
same meaning, use of mixed-model, whole-word, and phonetic recognition
methods simultaneously, and incorporation of acoustic patterns of speech
samples from landline and mobile phone environments.

The Provisor application provisioning engine from Abridean is

applications. This out-of-the-box solution automates and simplifies the

AudioCodes Enters ASP Market With New IP Media Family
The new IP Media hardware- and software-based product family from
AudioCodes is focused on enabling carriers and ASPs to offer enhanced voice
services over broadband using voice-over-packet technologies. Based on
AudioCodes' TrunkPack architecture, the products create a single platform

EdgeXpress Family From Kenetec Supports SBAN Architecture
Kenetec has announced its EdgeXpress family of products addressing
the multimedia, broadband networking infrastructure requirements of
businesses in multi-tenant units (MTUs), based on a services-oriented
building area network (SBAN) architecture. This delivery model enables
facilities-based providers to rapidly deliver new services while lowering
operations costs. The product family is made up of the EdgeXpress 1000
Service Access Unit, which sits at the tenant's premise and offers
aggregation for POTS or packetized voice and data over any type of network.
Traffic is then sent over a copper or fiber riser to the carrier-class
EdgeExpress 5000 Series Service Exchange Platform, which supports up to 120
tenants. The EdgeManager Service Provisioning System supports integration
with OSS systems through interfaces like CORBA.
Verascape Introduces VoiceXML System For Voice Portals
New voice portal enabler Verascape, a spinoff of Vail Systems, is developing
voice systems to extend Web access to wireless and wireline phones. The
company' system is based on the session initiation protocol (SIP) for
transporting VoIP traffic, and is made up of a media gateway, call director,
and speech server as well as software for controlling the various elements.
Speech recognition is enabled through a partnership with Nuance, and the
solution will be sold directly to ASPs and voice portals.

Ellaycoya Networks has announced its Service Generation System, a service
overlay platform that enables carriers and service providers to become
service agencies, leveraging their existing networks to deliver services and
service bundles through strategic partnerships. The directory-based platform
bonds transmission systems with applications for seamless delivery of
services in a self-serve or customized environment. Features of the system

Communications
The new GW-25 gateway from Accord Networks, part of the V2IPERA family of
visual and voice networking products, offers connectivity over IP networks

Technology
Designed to handle rugged applications, Trenton Technology has announced the
SLE single board computer featuring dual Intel Pentium III low-profile FC-PGA
processors, SDRAM, and an ultra3 SCSI interface supporting 160 Mbps of
maximum throughput. The board features dual Ethernet interfaces as well as
the ServerWorks ServerSet III LE chipset, supporting a front side bus

Programmable IP Telephony
net.com has announced the SHOUTIP platform based on a distributed
architecture and open programmability for IP telephony switching. The
platform's distributed nodes offer trunking, signaling, network management,

SOHO Broadband Services Gateway Delivers DSL Over Twisted

ShareGate has announced the new DSL2000 Broadband Services Gateway,
designed to deliver DSL and voice over DSL over twisted pair wiring. The
gateway uses a single phone line in a home or office to carry up to four
digital voice lines, one analog line, and simultaneous high-speed Internet

The cPCI-2000 Chassis Series of fault resilient CompactPCI systems has been
introduced by ADLINK Technology. The series features ADLINK's plug-in 3U
Intel-powered cPCI processor cards and application modules, and comes in
rackmount, desktop, or portable platform configurations. The series includes
a 6.4" LCD display, ATX or redundant, hot-swappable power supplies, and
front or rear I/O connections in a 4U-high chassis. Other features include
32- or 64-bit PCI bus connections, two 50 CFM fans and air filters, and
optional integrated CD-ROMs.

NUASIS has developed the NUASIS NuContact Service solution using voice, Web

Billing software solutions provider TeleKnowledge and open IP
telephony solutions provider Tundo have teamed up to offer next-generation
service providers new management and control capabilities, including
Web-enabled self care for customers. Integration of the Total-e billing
software from TeleKnowledge with the Network Telephony System from Tundo
offers service providers a comprehensive VoIP billing solution, electronic
bill presentment and payment with a Web-enabled interface, and Web-enabled
customer self care. This consists of online user registration support,
service ordering, trouble reporting, and automatic provisioning.
End-to-End High-Speed Broadband Services Delivered
Through Partnership
Tachion Networks and Flexion Systems have announced an agreement to
deliver high-speed broadband services through integrated product solutions
for service providers and CLECs. Tachion's Fusion 5000 collapsed central
office switch coupled with Flexion's BusinessGuardian X300 integrated
communications platform will allow providers to extend ATM services from the
core of packet-switched networks to the small office. Other benefits of the
integrated solution include business applications like unified messaging,
CTI applications, and auto-attendant functionality.
PSMap Mapping Service Will Enable Wireless e9-1-1 Calls
Lucent Public Safety Systems and Xmarc have begun development of the
PSMap centrally-based mapping service for enabling wireless E9-1-1 calls.
The service will offer maps to US public safety call centers, assisting them
in responding to wireless E9-1-1 calls. It will use components of Xmarc's
Wireless & Internet Infrastructure Software Environment Platform like
its geo-location and map rendering location services, as well as the
Enterprise Spatial Manager.
Webley And Indicast Announce Alliance To Offer Voice
Command Information Access
Unified communications and messaging services provider Webley
Systems and broadcast service provider Indicast are working together to
offer wireless and landline access to voice, fax, and e-mail messages as

Communications have announced an agreement to deliver VoIP services over DSL.
The companies have already demonstrated interoperability between
congruency's Communications Network, including its i.Picasso 6000 IP phone,
and Orckit's FastInternet IP DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) systems,
including the FastInternet DSLAM and the SPEEDPORT DSLAM.

softswitch provider telecom technologies for 10.8 million shares of stock,
with the promise of issuing an additional 4.2 million shares if telecom
technologies attains certain business objectives. The acquisition enables
Sonus to offer an end-to-end voice network solution through telecom
technologies' INtelligentIP softswitch. The standards-compliant softswitch
platform supports various media gateways and access devices, as well as

announced its intent to acquire MessageClick, a business-to-business
provider of integrated voice and data messaging services. MessageClick's

NEC Business Network Solutions Signs Up As Interactive
Intelligence Reseller
Customer interaction management solutions provider Interactive
Intelligence has signed up NEC Business Network Solutions (BNS), a provider
of network communication systems and services, as a national reseller. NEC
BNS will sell Interactive's Customer Interaction Center software to its IP
Telephony/Cisco CallManager customers. The software is an open solution
which can replace proprietary equipment like PBXs, ACDs, IVRs, Web gateways,
and CTI middleware. It can also consolidate various devices, and features
support for circuit-based switches, in addition to Cisco's Call Manager IP
platform.
AudioCodes And Tundo Team Up To Offer Voice-Enabled
Services Platform
A development alliance from IP telephony solutions provider Tundo
and platform provider AudioCodes will focus on the new IPmedia Application
Platform (IP-MAP). The platform will be an integration of Tundo's
Distributed Open Telephony Operating System and AudioCodes' IPmedia Server
platform, and will be offered to ASPs, OEMs, VARs, and application
developers. Developers will be able to focus on applications instead of
hardware integration with the new platform, and will be able to develop
enhanced voice services like IVR, conferencing, unified messaging, speech
recognition, and customer relationship management.
Brooktrout Software And Dialogic Partner To Deliver
Enterprise Voice Portal Solutions
Dialogic (an Intel company) and Brooktrout Software have announced
they will work together to deliver voice portal solutions to enterprise
customers. As part of Dialogic's SpeechServer initiative, the company will
introduce Brooktrout's Show 'N Tel and ActiveCall rapid application
development environments to enterprise customers, and Brooktrout's Solutions
Services Group will work directly with those customers to design and develop
voice portals. Both companies' products support speech recognition
technologies from vendors like Lernout & Hauspie, Nuance, SpeechWorks,
and Philips Speech Processing.
NEC Deploys VoIP Solution Developed By Natural
MicroSystems
NEC has announced deployment of a solution developed by Natural MicroSystems
(NMS) that adds VoIP capabilities to its NEC Electra Elite key telephone
systems. The solution is available for installed and new systems, and
consists of a single-card solution that enables four to eight ports of VoIP.
It also includes the NMS Fusion development software suite as well as their
DSP technology and an embedded processor in a custom form factor. The
Electra Elite system features a 32-bit processor, four standard COM ports,
and support for a Windows TAPI adapter and PC card for TAPI-based
applications.
GoBeam To Deliver Voice Services Through Sylantro
Application Modules
Sylantro Systems has announced that business communication provider GoBeam
will deliver voice services using Sylantro's softswitch application modules.
The softswitch technology will enable GoBeam to integrate new voice services
into their self-managed offerings. GoBeam offers a Web-based interface for
customizing preferences, setting permissions, directing communication
events, and adding or deleting capabilities.

Global Crossing, which is building out a global IP-based fiber-optic

Applied speech recognition technology provider Intraco Systems and
desktop application developer FutureLink Corporation have teamed up to offer
a comprehensive suite of application and telephony services. Intraco also
offers virtual office solutions that integrate voice and data with its
speech recognition technology, while FutureLink offers customers
subscription-based access to software applications for a flat fee.
