Neurotechnologija, a provider of biometric fingerprint and face recognition algorithms and software development products, has made strides in furthering the development of embedded biometrical systems with the recent announcement of FaceCell Facial Recognition Embedded Development Kit and FingerCell 2.0 for Embedded Fingerprint Recognition systems.
With these, developers can embed biometrics in their applications and devices to more quickly create next generation and innovative security and identification products for various sectors and markets.
Both offerings are designed to be incorporated in mobile embedded devices and are able to be combined for multi-biometrical applications that increase security.
The FaceCell algorithm matches faces at a speed of up to 3000 faces per second and can be easily used on any device with a built in camera to guarantee secure access. This type of embedded solution is favorable, as it does not require users to have physical contact with the devices to identify them. Embedded biometrics also removes the need to enter PIN codes.
Access control is also better secured with fingerprint recognition. FingerCell 2.0 matches up to 700 fingerprints per second and has the ability to recognize a fingerprint from even just a portion of it.
Agimantas Malickas, CEO of Neurotechnologija commented in a statement, "Each of these products individually has tremendous potential for the development of embedded biometrical systems; and used together they allow even more possibilities for applications that require a higher degree of security or for situations when a second identification method is needed, such as access control for disabled people or for manual workers whose fingerprints may be difficult to scan."
