Digiflare Unveils Cardign iPhone Contact Manager

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Your face is your passport into the digital world. With the advent of digital security solutions, face detection technology is increasingly being used as an identification method in various instances. Face detection technology is less intrusive compared to other forms of biometric identification technologies like an individual’s iris, finger print and palm print.

Because of its inherent advantages, this technology is being used by various companies. One such company is Cardign, which has partnered with Digiflare to release an iPhone (News - Alert) application that makes use face recognition technology to provide quick contact details about their contacts in the phone.

With this, mobile contact manager, all you need to do is to take a photo of a Cardign user from your mobile. The face recognition technology in this app does the rest by taking the information from their Facebook (News - Alert), Twitter, LinkedIn and other social networking sites and stores them. This information is constantly updated. So if the user changes any of his/her contact information on these sites, his/her smiling face in your contact list will let you know about the changes.

No doubt, apps like these allow us to stay updated with our contacts all the time; but there is also question mark on the privacy issues of the users, as all the contact updates can be viewed other users in their network.

Digiflare has always tried to stay ahead of the competition by offering the latest apps to its users. Recently, the company offered 10 Windows 8 apps to its users.

“Cardign allows people to connect with each other in a way they''ve never done before," said Jean-Luc David, founder of Cardign and CTO of Digiflare. "Many apps on the market use business cards or proprietary techniques to bridge a connection. We have a real opportunity to use face recognition to open up our worlds and meaningfully connect with one another - putting a name to a face like we do everyday.”
