Bioscrypt's Biometric Solutions Offer Identity Verification for the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel

By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor

Looking to avoid unauthorized and illegal workers from entering restricted areas of their casino and resort, The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel has partnered with Bioscrypt Inc., a provider of enterprise access control technology, for their Bioscrypt's VisionAccess 3D Face Readers and V-Smart fingerprint readers.

With the 3D face readers and fingerprint readers, the casino is able to authenticate its 12,000 employees and control access to restricted areas in a fast and easy way, and no matter what time of the day it is.

The Venetian Macao has said they will place the 13 deployed VisionAccess 3D Face Readers at the front entrance for when employee shifts change as well as make the face readers mandatory for employees, outside vendors or anyone requiring access.

The readers make it easy for workers to be positively identified as they feature two-way turnstiles, so coworkers both entering and exiting a casino site can be recognized.

With only a contactless smart card, typically kept in a hip pocket, a stored biometric template for validation is matched to the structure of a persons face in just a few seconds.

"The VisionAccess readers function by shining an invisible near infrared light grid pattern on a user's face. A camera then takes a picture of the resulting distortions in the grid pattern and makes a match against a template. Turnstiles ensure that only one employee enters at a time, eliminating tailgating," a news release explains.

As well, 50 V-Smart fingerprint readers have been deployed at secure areas of the casino. Once an employee provides their fingerprint for access, it is checked against a template stored on their smart card.

Bioscrypt's patented Core pattern-matching algorithm uses a part of the whole fingerprint pattern and can make accurate matches even with worn or scratched fingerprints, the news release also explained.

Robert M. Douglas, Bioscrypt's President & CEO commented, "Bioscrypt is pleased to provide The Venetian Macao with two biometric solutions in order to meet the casino's various access control needs. The size of The Venetian deployment demonstrates Bioscrypt's ability to scale up and accommodate a large number of users without creating bottlenecks."
