Alternative power has taken on a particular significance in the automotive space. One type of alternatively powered vehicle, the electric car, provides an environmentally conscious solution that also answers to relieving our dependency on foreign fuel. '
One company, Commuter Cars, maker of the unique Tango vehicle, an all-electric two seater that is only 39 inches wide, meaning it can easily be parked in many spaces and can weave in and out of any heavily congested roadway easily, comfortably and safely has taken the "tame" reputation of these "green" vehicles and created a car as aggressive as a gas fueled vehicle, with advanced traffic congestion options and that answers to global warming.
As with any alternative powered solution, a main concern is in protecting our environment by reducing emissions and reducing reliance on fuel.
According to a news release, the cost per mile of the electric powered car versus the retail price for gasoline brings on a savings of about one-sixth per mile.
Tangos are made to order and feature safety options like protective steel that is four times more protective than those on the biggest SUV's
Recently, the company announced a new improved redesign with the help of SolidWorks Corporation, which provides teams with software for design, analysis, and product data management to create better products.
Using SolidWorks 3D CAD Software, Commuter Cars engineers and designers were able to better plan and design the Tango model. The software also helped the company to organize and manage their files to get the concept designed and out on the road more effectively and efficiently.
The announcement also noted Commuter Cars purchase of SolidWorks COSMOSworks design analysis software to aid in the testing and design of its other concepts as well.
The company also noted future plans to vamp up volume production of the cars as funds increased.
Rainer Gawlick, SolidWorks vice president of worldwide marketing said in a statement to the press, "The Tango is more than just an alternative-fuel vehicle. This is potential sea change in the way we live our lives, at a time when environmental resource is precious. It’s a better product for, one hope, a better world."
