Cree, Inc., a prominent manufacturer of LED lighting components, informed the press  today that it’s acclaimed XLamp XR-E (News - Alert) LEDs are fit to be used in high-power applications of up to one amp (A).

 

With an average luminous flux of 176 lumens, at 1 A, the XR-E LED produces luminous flux of 210 lumens.

 

"The Cree (News - Alert) XLamp XR-E LED is established as the industry's best-performing power LED in production. To make the XR-E LED even better, it is now qualified for extended performance in higher-power applications, such a portable lighting, where maximum light output is required," said Norbert Hiller, Cree vice president and general manager for XLamp LEDs, in a statement. "This qualification also applies to the millions of XR-E LEDs already in the field, so customers can be confident using their existing XR-E LEDs at the higher power levels."

 

Cree is a key innovator and developer of semiconductors and devices powering solid-state lighting, power and communications products. Cree has developed an expertise in silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) for chips and packaged devices
