Murder investigation continuesJun 28, 2013 (The Hawk Eye - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A man found dead behind his Burlington home early Tuesday morning died from a single gunshot wound outside his residence. Terry L. Page, 36, was found dead about 5 a.m. by his girlfriend, Tammy Lewis, at 1205 Franklin St., where they lived with Lewis' two children. Lt. Jeff Klein, chief of Burlington's criminal investigation division, said an autopsy Wednesday in Iowa City determined the cause of death. Klein declined to say what type of weapon was used in the killing. "At this point, we are not discounting anyone as a suspect," he added. "We are still gathering information, but we have received nothing that points us in a specific direction." Klein said detectives from Burlington and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation have interviewed numerous people about the killing. "We are well into double digits," Klein said of the number of people questioned. "We have had a few sporadic tips (since the homicide), and we are following up on all of them." Klein declined to say if the murder weapon has been recovered, if police have determined a motive or who may have been at the residence the morning of Page's murder. "We are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding his death," he said. Authorities obtained search warrants Tuesday for the home and for vehicles parked in the vicinity of the crime scene. Results of the search warrants had not been returned to Des Moines County District Court late Thursday afternoon. Patrol officers, who had been stationed at the residence for more than 24 hours, removed the crime scene tape and left the area after the autopsy had been completed late Wednesday.
