Kendo UI Brings HTML5 to the Enterprise, Adds Interactive Financial Charts and Java Support

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Waltham, MA (PRWEB) November 14, 2012 Telerik, an end-to-end provider of software application, lifecycle and content management solutions, today announced the latest release of Kendo UI, a comprehensive framework for building websites and mobile apps with HTML and JavaScript. With this release, Kendo UI adds highly interactive HTML5-based financial charts to Kendo UI DataViz, and delivers industry leading, out-of-the-box accessibility improvements in Kendo UI Web. Additionally, the latest release introduces Java server-side wrappers that enable Java developers to use familiar server-side programming skills to build modern sites that benefit from Kendo UI’s client-side power and cross-browser HTML5 compatibility. Combined, these enhancements make Kendo UI the most enterprise-ready collection of HTML5 and JavaScript tools on the market for building websites and mobile apps.

“This release is a milestone for enterprise developers interested in adopting HTML5,” said Todd Anglin, vice president, HTML5 Web and Mobile Tools at Telerik. “Never before has an HTML and JavaScript toolset done as much as Kendo UI to address the needs of enterprise developers. We’ve brought our expertise building developer tools to the huge community of Java enterprise developers, while simultaneously adding critical features that make HTML5 ready for enterprise projects.” Highly Interactive Charts for Every Device A key piece of the Kendo UI winter release is the addition of highly interactive HTML5-based financial charts to Kendo UI DataViz. By building on Kendo UI’s robust cross-browser and cross-device support, Kendo UI DataViz now enables developers to present complex financial data in interactive charts that users can easily zoom, pan and manipulate on both desktop computers and mobile devices, like the iPad. Additionally, support for real-time zooming and panning has been added to all existing Kendo UI DataViz chart types.

Using these enhancements, developers can quickly present enterprise financial data in hardware-accelerated dashboards ready to support both touch and mouse input, giving users unprecedented access to data and intuitive tools for quickly gaining insights.

Simplifying HTML5 Development for Java Developers Building on the massive success of Kendo UI server wrappers released for .NET, today’s release introduces beta server wrappers for Java developers. The new wrappers help Java developers maximize productivity, while creating apps with HTML and JavaScript, by leveraging existing server-side JSP programming skills to configure and interact with Kendo UI. Further, with the recent Kendo UI Global Developer Survey revealing 82 percent of developers worldwide regard HTML5 as important to their jobs within the next 12 months, the introduction of Java wrappers is a timely enhancement that will help enterprises prepare for this impending platform shift.

Following a short public beta, the company plans to offer a General Availability version of the Java wrappers early next year, followed by the introduction of server-side wrappers for additional platforms throughout 2013.

Unprecedented Accessibility Standards Support Large enterprises and government organizations interested in adopting HTML5 are typically blocked in doing so by challenging accessibility issues common to existing HTML and JavaScript frameworks. Kendo UI conquers this challenge and raises the bar by delivering unprecedented accessibility standards support in an HTML and JavaScript UI framework. Out-of-the-box support for the modern WAI-ARIA accessibility standard, high-contrast themes that exceed the strict WCAG 2.0 contrast ratios, and extensive keyboard support are all present in the latest version. Developers working with Kendo UI can do so with the confidence that they are simultaneously satisfying government accessibility standards and creating highly accessible web applications for end-users.

Additional Kendo UI Framework Enhancements Dozens of additional features and performance improvements have been added to all parts of the Kendo UI framework in the winter release, including:    •      Kendo UI Web: Right-to-left (RTL) support for all web widgets, critical for developers working with RTL languages, such as Arabic.

   •      Kendo UI Mobile: Cross-platform gesture framework (tap, double-tap, swipe, pinch/zoom), new transitions and hardware-accelerated animations that help mobile apps look and feel increasingly native, as well as a powerful, intuitive Mobile ThemeBuilder with real-time, multi-device (iOS, Android, BlackBerry, MeeGo) theme previews.

   •      Kendo UI DataViz: ThemeBuilder support, which allows developers to quickly customize chart styles without writing any code.
