AT&T ( News - Alert) got the holiday bells ringing with its new HP Mini Netbook, which features built-in access to the AT&T’s 3G network and Wi-Fi network. The carrier will begin selling the netbook on Sunday – in stores and online -- for early bird holiday shoppers.
The 2.57-pound ’book includes the new Microsoft ( News - Alert) Windows 7 operating system. It will be available for $199 after mail-in rebate via an AT&T Promotion Card and a two-year data service contract.
The HP Mini 110offers a 10.1-inch LED anti-glare widescreen display, 1GB of memory, an Intel ( News - Alert) Atom processor, a 160GB hard drive and an HP webcam with an integrated microphone. It comes with HP QuickSync, which automatically syncs files saved on the Mini with a home or work PC when connected to the same WiFi ( News - Alert) network.
To work, the netbook requires the purchase of a new two-year AT&T DataConnect plan -- including a 200MB plan option for a newly reduced price of $35 per month or a 5GB plan for $60 per month. AT&T DataConnect plans offer consumer and small business subscribers access to AT&T’s 3G network, along with free use of AT&T WiFi service, featuring more than 20,000 hotspots nationwide.
