Sacred Heart College, an International Baccalaureate World School located in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, has
deployed Xirrus’ high performance 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays across the campus.
According to school officials, Xirrus was selected as the provider because it found its architecture capable of supporting 30+ concurrent students per classroom from a single cable drop.
The school was also able to forgo installing expensive wired Ethernet to the desktop in their new digital computer labs, saving the school money on switch ports, cabling, and labor.
"We talked about it a lot with other schools in the area and got the Xirrus guys down to look at an initial site survey, which really assured us from almost day one that this was a solution that would fit our needs exactly as we moved to larger and larger numbers of computers available to kids”, Rod Bush, ICT Manager at Sacred Heart College, said.
Bush said that it is really the only feasible way to supply sufficient bandwidth to the desktop for that number of laptops.
“Looking at having 1,300 plus laptops over the next few years we can feel quite confident sitting back and saying our Xirrus wireless infrastructure is going to be able to support that without any hassle at all,” Mark Pleasance, Intranet Developer at Sacred Heart, said.
In July, TMCnet
reported that Xirrus, Inc. announced that their partner inTechnology Distribution has successfully deployed Xirrus high performance Wi-Fi throughout St. Andrew's Anglican College located in Queensland, Australia.
