Skytron have jointly deployed their “Real-time Location System” at San Joaquin Community Hospital. With this deployment, the adventist health system will be added to Skytron Asset Manager, powered by Awarepoint, hospital client base.
Skytron Asset Manager is a real time location solution that increases productivity, reduces equipment costs, enhances visibility, improves workforce and optimizes utilization. The asset manager makes use of tags that provide functionality and performance to meet the specific needs of the clients. It also uses sensors to detect tags and wirelessly communicate their location and status to a web based software.
Initially, San Joaquin Community Hospital is tracking its high value mobile assets including wheeled beds, gurneys, computers on wheels, IV and PCA pumps, telemetry and vital signs monitors. To oversee pharmacy refrigerator temperatures, and alert if temperatures are out of range, San Joaquin Community Hospital is also using temperature monitoring tags. To create a wireless mesh network to cover the entire enterprise, ZigBee sensors are deployed in standard electrical outlets.

The goal is to maximize the RTLS immediate return-on-investment drivers.”
Users can quickly locate specific equipment or people and provide information about their movement and status as active RFID tags broadcast low-power radio messages. This way, Skytron Asset Manager brings cost saving, tracking flexibility and location awareness at the fingertips of a healthcare provider.
Recently, Awarepoint
signed an agreement with
Patient Care Technology Systems to co-market the companies' technologies for providing real-time workflow visibility and automation. PCTS will utilize Awarepoint's patented "plug and track" Real-time Awareness System for PCTS' enterprise workflow visibility solutions. PCTS provides enterprise-wide workflow visibility through its advanced Amelior 360° enterprise platform.
