Hilo Medical Center in Hilo, Hawaii has selected
InfoLogix, Inc., a provider of enterprise mobility solutions for the healthcare and commercial industries, for a multi-year engagement to provide wireless managed services and cellular installation across the Hilo Medical Center (HMC) facility.
According to InfoLogix officials, the company’s wireless-as-a-service offering delivers advanced wireless connectivity as a managed service, thereby enabling hospitals like Hilo to achieve ongoing access to a fully-functional wireless infrastructure on as a pay-as-you-go basis.
Company officials said that the offering provides for the purchase, installation and maintenance of the wireless network throughout the entire hospital -- from wireless workstations in the ICU and emergency departments, to all patient rooms, mobile devices and PDAs -- and secure access to patient information accessible to all caregivers, whether onsite or remote.

Gulian said that while Hilo focuses on what matters most -- the patients -- InfoLogix will be handling their complete wireless infrastructure, including help desk, network monitoring, an on-demand portal, and all other components necessary to drive the vital EMR, voice and data communications necessary in a 21(st) century healthcare facility.

The HealthTrax Wireless Asset Tracking Solution allows hospitals to track the location of a patient or a piece of equipment in any indoor or outdoor location using a wireless network infrastructure, identification tags, exciters and software applications.
