Alert) Windows operating system for use on personal computers. Set for release in October 2009, Windows 7 is intended to be a focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line. Windows 7 will be fully compatible with applications and hardware that are compatible with it predecessor Windows Vista.
The Windows 7 Logo program is designed to help companies develop systems and devices that have been tested to ensure that they meet Microsoft Corp. standards for Windows 7, with the shared goal of improving usability for the customer.
The D-Link Xtreme N Wireless Router was the first router in the market to receive Windows 7 certification. More models are expected to pass the testing in the near future. The D-Link routers that have already been tested for compatibility and have qualified to display the Windows 7 logo on their packaging by the end of the third quarter are DIR-855 Xtreme N Duo Media Router, DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router, DIR-655 Xtreme N Wireless Router, DIR-628 RangeBooster N Dual Band Router, DIR-615 Wireless N Router, DIR-600 Wireless 150 Router and the DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router.
According to Daniel Kelley, senior director of marketing at D-link Systems, it’s easy to get the most out of the D-Link network since automatic setup and connectivity capabilities are built into Windows 7. When a user starts to plug in all his devices, Windows 7 will auto-discover and auto-configure them. This will help users to realize additional functionality out of their networks and devices. In the long run, this feature reduces support calls as well.
D-Link designs, manufactures and markets advanced networking, broadband, digital, voice and data communications solutions. The solutions from D-Link meet the networking and connectivity needs of digital home consumers, small office professionals, small- to medium-sized businesses and enterprise environments. The company has an expanding network of global distribution and delivery channels to deliver products to more than 100 countries around the world.
