Azimuth's ACE MX to Test Wavesat's Broadband Wireless Products

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Wavesat Inc., a supplier of broadband wireless semiconductor solutions, reportedly has selected Azimuth’s ACE MX Universal Frequency MIMO Channel Emulator for testing of its Odyssey broadband wireless product family.

Azimuth Systems is a provider of wireless broadband test equipment and channel emulators for WiFi, WiMAX (News - Alert), LTE and 2G/3G cellular technologies.

With ACE MX, Wavesat plans to test its semiconductor solutions, ensuring quality performance and improving the costs and time associated with testing.

“Wavesat’s (News - Alert) Odyssey product family allows customers to keep pace with rapidly evolving broadband wireless technologies and to migrate seamlessly to future 4G technologies such as LTE (News - Alert),” said Victor Menasce, vice president of engineering at Wavesat. “It was only natural that we partner with Azimuth – one of the leading providers of wireless broadband test equipment and channel emulators”.

Menasce said he is confident that the ACE MX will not only save Wavesat the significant time and costs associated with manual testing, but it will also help to ensure ultimate satisfaction from the carrier and mobile device manufacturer customers.

Azimuth officials while describing the ACE MX said that it uses advanced digital signaling processing technology to enable real-time testing of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output, MISO, SISO and SIMO wireless devices in a multipath fading environment – providing dynamic channel emulation that scales for testing single channel devices up to MIMO 4X4 devices.

Officials said that the ACE MX also features dedicated bi-directional channel modeling that can accurately emulate real world wireless over-the-air conditions in both the downlink and uplink paths simultaneously.

“As service providers, semiconductor designers and system vendors utilize OFDM and MIMO-based systems such as WiMAX and LTE, channel emulation is rapidly being recognized as the key to reliable conformance, performance and interoperability testing,” said George Reed, vice president of marketing and product management at Azimuth Systems (News - Alert).

Reed said that his company was excited to partner with Wavesat, a global player in mobile broadband, to help them deliver reliable, advanced semiconductor solutions that allow the world’s leading carrier and mobile device manufacturers to deploy future-proof broadband services and products.
