Ericsson (

Alert) has signed a major managed services cooperation contract with Orange in the Netherlands. The agreement, which covers a time frame of five years will cover operations, rollout and field maintenance of the Orange mobile network.
Under the agreement 90 jobs will be transferred to Ericsson, which will allow Orange Netherlands to better focus on the changing telecommunications market.
“We are extremely proud and pleased to announce this managed services agreement that Orange Netherlands have entrusted us with,” said Hans Vestberg, executive vice president and head of business unit Global Services at Ericsson in a
press release.
He continued: “Our know-how, combined with the experience of Orange Netherlands specialists, will guarantee a continuous high quality of service
whilst ensuring significant savings in their operational expenses.”
Yves Gaultier, CEO of Orange Netherlands sees the agreement as an important step for their company that will enable them to focus more on improving their position in the mobile telecommunications market.
“The cooperation with Ericsson guarantees the quality of our network. At the same time, our high-grade technical network staff will have a job within Ericsson,” he concluded.
Ericsson boasts a comprehensive managed services offering in the telecom industry ranging from designing, building, operating and managing day-to-day operations of a customer’s network, to hosting service applications and enablers, as well as providing network coverage and capacity on demand.
Since 2002, Ericsson has officially announced more than 100 managed services contracts with operators worldwide. Ericsson is managing networks that together serve over 100 million subscribers worldwide in all current managed services contracts, excluding hosting.
In addition to delivering commercial High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) software upgrade, Ericsson has provided deployment, integration and support services.
