WildPackets ( News - Alert) just released OmniAnalysis Platform v4.1, a newly updated version of its software platform for network troubleshooting and application analysis. Version 4.1 will provide support for Microsoft’s ( News - Alert) brand new Windows Vista Operating System, as well as support for Intel Centrino 3945 chips for monitoring and analyzing 802.11a/b/g traffic.
With OmniAnalysis v4.1, now network engineers and wireless product developers will be able to also analyze and manage frames for 802.11n networks. WildPackets is a member of the WiFi Alliance.
“The Centrino 3945abg now ships with the most popular laptops including Dell ( News - Alert), Sony, and HP,” said WildPackets’ president and CEO Mahboud Zabetian in a statement. “Having support for built-in wireless eliminates the need for an external card and frees up the slot for other uses, such as running OmniSpectrum, our solution for RF spectrum analysis, concurrently.”
The new version also features a reporting service (database-driven) which offers graphical views of key network statistics, such as top talkers, user IPs and node utilization. The service collects statistics from an OmniEngine, captures and analyzes packets 24/7, includes its own Web server and works with a MySQL database.
Launched this week, Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system is now available in more than 70 countries, in 19 languages (with 99 languages anticipated by the end of the year), and at more than 39,000 retail stores and online.
According to Microsoft, this release is expected to unleash the development of a surge of new hardware, software, devices and services, such as OmniAnalysis Platform v4.1. Microsoft says that over a million devices and peripherals are currently on the market, which work with Windows Vista, including certified ones.
