Wavion Otimizes WiFi Coverage with New Coverage Tool

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Wavion has announced the release of its new Wavion Coverage Tool (WCT) for optimizing WiFi (News - Alert) coverage. Service providers can use the new tool to easily test the coverage of Wavion’s WBS-2400 base stations in their actual locations.

As the WCT allows service providers to measure the actual throughput at every point in the targeted area, they can optimize their site selection and network coverage. By using this new tool, service providers can optimize their marketing efforts in those areas where good coverage has been validated and ensure performance levels at each of their customer locations.

The company is also offering off-the-shelf components with the Wavion’s software. The complete WCT package includes GPS receiver, WiFi client, WiFi booster, which enables simulating outdoor CPEs and omni-directional car-roof antenna.

“We are proud to release this new tool for coverage optimization,” said Dr. Mati Wax, Wavion’s founder and CTO in a statement. Their company has invested a lot of time and effort in developing the WCT and ensuring that it provides the most reliable and easy to use information.

“We believe that this tool will ensure smooth and cost effective deployments and provide yet another layer to Wavion’s business case superiority,” concluded Dr. Mati.

Wavion is transforming the metro Wi-Fi and rural markets with a new category of spatially adaptive base stations. The company recently announced the opening of a local office in Brazil and signed partnership agreements with 2 major Brazilian distributors to address the burgeoning need for broadband wireless connectivity in the nation.

The company also recently deployed Wavion WBS-2400 Base Stations along the newly opened circuit of GT1 and Formula One (F1) in the province of San Luis, Argentina. The deployment will provide high-speed wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) along the Formula One race track.
