Telos Corporation, a provider of IT solutions and services to the federal government, has received yet another order from the Air Force to install premise wiring for secure Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) voice and data communications at Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina.
As per the terms of this order, Telos will be providing professional services and associated cabling and telecom termination equipment, including wiring in the base’s network control center. The task order also includes installation services for future wireless access points to enable WLAN expansion.
Approximate value of this order is reported to be $800,000. Telos is intending to complete the work by February 2009.
NETCENTS, an Air Force indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, enables the federal government to purchase hardware and software, network-centric voice, video and data products and services, and telephony solutions from preferred contractors.
Telos association with the Air Force started as early as 1990, when the company partnered with Air Mobility Command to beta test wireless at Charleston Air Force Base. These trials proved effective and have thus paved way for the installation of WLAN at Air Force.
Earlier this year, Telos was awarded a task order to implement the second generation WLAN expansion at 110 Air Force locations worldwide, including all AMC bases.
“We are pleased to deliver the enterprise-class network infrastructure backbone for secure voice and data communications for the Air Force base in Charleston,” said Charisse Stokes, southeast (NETCENTS) program manager for Telos.
“This contract demonstrates our ability to serve the critical communications needs of the Air Force and to continue our support of military missions and U.S. government operations,” added Stokes.
