EF Johnson Launches Lightning Control Head for ES Series Mobile Radio

EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. has introduced the Lightning Control Head for its Project 25 compliant ES Series Mobile Radio. The company’s portfolio includes Project 25 compliant two-way radios, P25 compliant trunked and conventional infrastructure systems, voice encryption modules for all brands of analog two-way radios, and FIPS 140-2 Validated secure wireless broadband, mesh and WLAN solutions.



 
It’s mobile radios are used by responders in public safety and public service, the federal government, and industrial organizations are specifically designed for demanding public safety communications applications, and are ideal for migrating critical systems to the latest open standards.

The new product introduced supports Project 25 dash or remote mount configuration, 320 x 80 pixel display resolution, electroluminescent three-line text display with 16 alphanumeric characters, and five soft keys (backlight, display, channel select, scan, and tones). 

Lightning Control Head is Project 25 trunked and displays conventional operation, interoperability with SMARTNET/SmartZone, Enhanced (AMBE+2) P25 Vocoder, over the air re-keying and over the air reprogramming, and support for up to 864 talk groups.

“Public safety users require a mobile radio control head with a large, bright, and readable display," said Michael Jalbert, president and chief executive officer of EF Johnson Technologies, Inc.
 
"Our new Control Head uses technology found in military applications such as airborne cockpit and ground-based vehicle dashboard instrumentation, windshield heads-up display, military weaponry and communication equipment." Jalbert added, "This control head continues our long tradition of public safety communications solutions. Our roots in public safety go back nearly 70 years. In 1939, the company developed its first mobile radio system for use by police cars in Minnesota cities."
 
EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. celebrated 85th anniversary of its subsidiary, E.F. Johnson Company last month. Edgar F. Johnson started the company in Waseca, Minnesota, in October 1923.
