Elef Touche features a large touch screen, Windows Mobile 6.1, Wi-Fi internet access and a 2 megapixel camera. The Touche employs the high-sensitivity SiRFstarIII microcontroller chip along with the Route 66 Navigate 8 application which will be powered by NAVTEQ’s map of Brazil. The NATEQ map will provide users with 15,000 POIs and besides this Touche users will benefit from access to nearly 555,000 POIs from the NAVTEQ extended listings product for Brazil. NAVTEQ maps of Europe, the US, Canada and Asia can also be used within the navigation application.

“We believe that the positioning speed of the Elef Touche combined with the accuracy of NAVTEQ map data will provide Brazilian consumers with a cutting-edge navigation experience,” said Helder Azevedo, general director- South America, NAVTEQ.
He continued: “The NAVTEQ map provides a broad range of Points of Interest and extensive city coverage that allow consumers to easily and efficiently search for destinations and plan routes, making for a truly interactive navigation device.”

The NAVTEQ map of Brazil covers 835,000 km of roads besides offering a comprehensive coverage of several metropolitan areas like Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Campinas, Contagem, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Sao Jose dos Campos and Sao Paulo. The Brazil map contains other POIs like hotels, gas stations and banks so that users can select their destinations by means of the address or POI listing.

Elef specializes in the development of next generation Smartphones and Pocket PCs which use the Windows Mobile platform. By integrating latest and advanced components and engineering, Elef provides products with desired performance and design which are suitable for various requirements.

The NAVTEQ map of Brazil offers automotive-grade, turn-by-turn guidance for navigation systems, location-based solutions, and enterprise applications. Local people employed in the field offices at Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre collect and verify road geometry and attributes. New map content will be added on a quarterly basis.
