DataPath Awarded $2.2M to Support U.S. Army SATCOM Terminals

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributing Editor

DataPath (News - Alert), a global provider of satellite and wireless communications networks, has been awarded $2.2 million to provide personnel, spares kits and other equipment for in-theater depots that support the U.S. Army's Joint Network Node (JNN)/Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) program.

The services and equipment support the maintenance and repair of hundreds of DataPath JNN/WIN-T satellite communications (SATCOM) terminals deployed in Southwest Asia.

DataPath has built and delivered more than 800 Satellite Transportable Terminals (STTs) as well as provided Unit Hub SATCOM Trucks (UHSTs), software and extensive services for the JNN/WIN-T program since 2004. DataPath has more than 250 field personnel supporting customers around the world. The majority of them support the U.S. military in more than 60 locations in nine countries.

"DataPath's field services organization, including depot personnel, onsite technical experts and others are doing exceptional work supporting the military's most vital communications networks," said Steve Lindeman, vice president of business operations at DataPath. "They are responsible for deploying and supporting the JNN/WIN-T satellite communications network used in theater today as well as other major military communications networks."

DataPath is a global player in creating satellite-based network solutions that solve customers' toughest communications challenges. The company specializes in enabling highly complex, video-intensive communications networks that are critical to the operations of military, civilian government and commercial organizations.

SWE-DISH (News - Alert) Satellite Systems AB, a Stockholm-based, global innovator in the design and manufacture of mobile satellite communications systems, is a wholly owned subsidiary.

DataPath is headquartered in Duluth, Georgia and operates via more than two dozen offices and distributor locations around the world.

In August, DataPath was awarded $1.9 million to support US CENTCOM satellite communication hubs.

As per the contract, the company will provide field services for DataPath Deployable Ku Band Earth Terminals (DKETs) at a key communications hub in Iraq.

DataPath had built and installed the DKET systems and these are used by the U.S. military as critical satellite communications (SATCOM) hubs that deliver high-bandwidth capabilities on the battlefield.

DataPath technical experts have been based onsite to ensure optimum performance of the systems since they were installed in March 2005.
