Alert) Forum M-Taiwan WiMAX Application Lab (MTWAL), managed by ITRI at the campus in Hsinchu.
Alvarion Ltd., is a leading provider of WiMAX
and wireless broadband solutions. The new lab, which is also called the Proof-of-Concept (PoC) lab, will test and develop innovative Mobile WiMAX applications. In the next phase of the project, the company is planning to expand the coverage throughout the Hsinchu Science Park, National Chiao Tung University, and National Tsing Hua University.

Alvarion’s IEEE
802.16e end-to-end 4Motion solution will enhance multi-vendor interoperability performance of WiMAX equipment and provide various applications over Mobile WiMAX at the 2.5 GHz frequency band.
Dr. Gin-Kou Ma, deputy general director of the SoC Technology Center (STC) of ITRI said in a press release, “After working with the WiMAX expert Alvarion for two years, and learning their unique Mobile WiMAX technology, it is clear that their 4Motion offering is the best solution for us. Alvarion’s complete solution enables quick and easy deployment of mobile broadband services. Leveraging our advanced Mobile WiMAX research, we plan to offer mobile applications throughout the campus and beyond, while assisting Taiwan in maintaining a competitive position in the WiMAX industry overall.”
