Xirrus, a WiFi (News - Alert) Power Play in the industry, has deployed its Xirrus high performance WiFi Arrays at New College in Swindon, U.K. New College, a sixth-form college, has become the premier academic provider of A Levels and GCSEs for school-leavers in the wider Swindon area in quite a quick time. The college was established in 1984 and since then it has expanded its range to include highly-successful access to Higher Education, degree courses, and a business services arm.
The primary aim of the college is to provide state-of-the-art education services. The college expects that with the help of upgraded Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays, New College will achieve their density demands with a scalable network, while offering a quality of service unmatched by other vendor offerings.
“Our previous network couldn’t support the steady growth of wireless devices that our students and faculty bring onto campus,” stated Phil Quinn, ICT manager at New College, in a press release. “The user demand on our network has surpassed the level which the original wireless system was designed for. We knew we needed to find a wireless solution that could support our current density requirements, while offering scalability to our network. Xirrus offered that and much more. Xirrus is very aware of the constraints that IT is under and has built a product that solves many of the issues we faced with our previous wireless solution.”
Quinn continued, “We have a strong focus on wireless technology and offering mobility to our students and faculty is a priority. By selecting Xirrus, not only were we able to drastically reduce the number of wireless devices we needed to deploy, but we were also able to reduce our power consumption costs, while offering a quality of service unmatched by any other vendor offerings. Xirrus stands behind their product and was willing to offer a coverage guarantee. This was something we couldn’t overlook in our decision process and we are confident we made the right choice in selecting the Xirrus product.”
