Webinar - The True Voice of the Customer: Hearing Quality Optimized on Skype for Business

There is an old saying, “Seeing is believing!”  It is getting more credence every day as the world is increasingly using more video in real-time interactions. However, if you stop and think about it, that saying is actually an off-shoot of what could have been an early commercial for the telephone, i.e., “Hearing is believing!”  In fact, it can be argued that, in many ways when it comes to those real-time interactions in a business context, video is actually enhanced voice because, at the end of the day, you need to be best equipped to hear the voice of the customer, and everyone else for that matter.

The facts are that like the silent movies of old, obtaining context from a visual without either sub-titles or text was not a compelling user experience. This became apparent once movie goers got used to the movies as a form of entertainment. It is why with the addition of voice “talkies” quickly ruled the screens. It is also why the sound systems in movie theaters are constantly being improved to better engage us in immersive experiences that want us coming back for more. Thus when it comes to communications interactions, where real-time voice is still the dominant means of resolving problems, having not just great sound but also great processing of the speech part of that sound and great echo cancellation are key.  In short, it is why having a business organization’s frontline people—customer care, sales, investor relations, executive assistants, etc., who in the computer age need to work in a hands-free environment—need a high-quality and high performance headset.

It may be a small item that many might consider an “accessory,” but reality is that quality headsets can be seen as “mission critical” without over-exaggerating their importance.

The reason to bring this up is that, with so many organizations of all sizes and locations in the process of moving to, or contemplating a move to reliance on Skype for Business from Microsoft (News - Alert), they need to think about the sound quality of the interactive tool/headset their frontline people are using to interact with all current and potential stakeholders.

This is an instance where quality matters. It is also a case of you really do get what you pay for.

For more than 70 years, the name Sennheiser has been a recognized gold standard in the areas of sound recording, transmission and reproduction. This includes headsets, where their cutting edge technology enables high quality interactions even in noisy environments.  It is why when evaluating what to use with Skype (News - Alert) for Business—which brings together the familiar experience of we know from using Skype for personal reasons and adds the security, compliance, and control of Microsoft Lync—the Sennheiser portfolio of headsets should be part of the evaluation mix.
