Webinar - Learn How to Navigate the RCS Journey in the Google Age

RCS first burst onto the scene a few years ago when the GSMA (News - Alert) began pushing its Joyn vision. That effort didn’t get far. However, at Mobile World Congress in February, some real momentum began to build around RCS.

That was when Google (News - Alert) announced plans to support RCS. Google, which bought Jibe last year, plans to provide an open source version of an RCS client based on the universal profile specification and offer developer APIs to enhance the RCS client experience.

Google’s support for RCS is noteworthy not only because this is Google we’re talking about, but also because Google is the company behind the popular Android (News - Alert) mobile phone operating system. RCS requires support on phones, and now Google can make that happen in large part.

Also, there is now a wide array of service providers behind RCS. At the same event in Barcelona, a lengthy list of top mobile network operators from around the world announced they are working on RCS. That list includes America Movil, Bharti Airtel Ltd., Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert), Etisalat, KPN, Millicom, MTN, Orange, TeliaSonera, Telstra, Turkcell, VimpelCom, and Vodafone.

RCS uses IMS to deliver enhanced communications across devices on any network. That includes things such as content sharing, file sharing, group messaging, social networking, and VoIP.

To learn more about RCS; the importance of Google’s participation in moving this technology forward; and what it all means for mobile operators, the larger industry, and your company, join us for the upcoming webinar “Navigating the RCS Journey in the Google Age”. This online event is scheduled for Sept. 12 at 8 a.m. Pacific time/11 a.m. Eastern. It will feature Jay Bhatt, RCS product director at Xura (News - Alert), as the main speaker, who will also provide guidance on how to navigate a successful RCS journey.
