This webinar provides an insight into, and a justification for, the migration process and the transformation of a wireline TDM communication network to an IP-based VoIP network. In reality, the complete replacement of legacy Class-4 and Class-5 services is happening right now and is one of the priority plans for every operator. However, the entire replacement process is a very complex one, and the replacement of the Class-4 and Class-5 infrastructure is an unpleasant business. In the case of C4, the interoperability connections and integration with existing OSS/BSS systems are at stake, and in the case of C5, the risks are connected to the range of services and applications that are already in use. The reason for the replacement is the OPEX savings on obsolete TDM networks and, simultaneously, in the investments in a new network architecture, the NGN or IMS and in introduction of new next-gen services. With an IP network and a new service-delivery platform, the operators are able to rapidly deploy new multimedia services to residential users as well as to highly demanding business users.

At Iskratel, Pavel is currently working in the Technical Sales Department as a Solution Manager for Multimedia Core Networks. His main tasks are preparing complex technical solutions for both fixed and mobile operators and promoting new multimedia services based on VoIP Softswitches. His expertise is in migration, transformation and modernization projects for fixed operators. Pavel has a B.Sc. degree from the Faculty of Electrical and Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. He started as an R&D system test engineer in 1996 at the Iskratel Company. He was working (joint venture projects between Siemens and Iskratel) on EWSD/hiE/hiQ systems as an online test coordinator on many projects around the world. Since 2006 he is a member of the Technical Sales Department, preparing NGN solutions based on the Iskratel SI3000 multimedia core products family.
